Logistik-Auszeichnung für Uno-Welternährungsprogramm

Das Welternährungsprogramm der Vereinten Nationen (WFP) ist als Preisträger der Lynn-C.-Fritz-Medaille 2026 für herausragende Leistungen in der humanitären Logistik ausgewählt worden. Die Auszeichnung wird jährlich von der «Logistics Hall of Fame» verliehen und vom US-amerikanischen Fritz Institute gesponsert.

The tremors — the largest to hit Venezuela in over a century — were felt across the country and as far as Colombia and the Caribbean. Building collapses, infrastructure damage, and widespread displacement have been reported across La Guaira, Miranda, Aragua, Falcón, Carabobo, and the Capital District. Maiquetía International Airport sustained severe structural damage and remains closed. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez declared a constitutional state of emergency, activated national emergency protocols, and announced a reconstruction fund. The government has identified La Guaira as the hardest-hit state. The full scale of humanitarian need is still emerging, with search and rescue operations ongoing and entire communities yet to be reached. WFP has maintained continuous operations in Venezuela since 2021, establishing itself as the backbone of the country's humanitarian food security response. Over five years, WFP has built deep operational presence, supply chains, and institutional relationships across 12 states — including in areas now at the center of the earthquake response. That foundation, built through years of sustained commitment to the Venezuelan people, positions WFP to respond with speed, reach, and credibility at one of the most critical moments the country has faced in a generation.
